5 lbs Idaho Potatoes 5 cups Cabbage (shredded) 1 cup Milk 2 Garlic Cloves Minced 3 Sticks Butter plus 3 Tbls 6 Green Onions (white and light green parts) Salt and Pepper to taste
- Shred cabbage and in a large saucepan sauté cabbage until tender in 2 sticks of butter. Boil potatoes until fork tender. Put a dollop of butter in the water and it won’t boil over.
- Remove from heat and drain. Add 1 stick of butter, salt and pepper then mash with a mixer. Then add milk to potatoes until they get creamy.
- Slice the green onions and add to the mashed potatoes along with the cabbage. Mix well until combined.
- Make a well in the center and put butter in it to melt and serve.
