County Fair Funnel Cakes

County Fair Funnel Cakes

County Fair Funnel Cakes

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Canola oil for frying
  1. Preheat oil to 375 degrees in a high sided pan, about 3 inches.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar. In a separate bowl, beat together eggs, milk and vanilla. Combine slowly the dry ingredients into the milk mixture. Mix until smooth.
  3. In a funnel put you finger on the hole at the bottom. Fill with about 3/4’s to 1 cup. Start in the middle and spiral out. Fry on first side until golden brown and then flip and do the other side to golden brown. Remove from oil carefully and place on a paper towel. Sprinkle with powder sugar and serve while still warm.
  4. If you want to reheat put on a sheet pan and place in a 350 degree oven for 5 minutes and sprinkler with more powder sugar
