Honey Baked Ham Copycat

Active Prep Time:25 minutes Total Time:2 hours, 20 minutes
Servings: 10 - 12
  • 8 lb bone-in spiral sliced half ham
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 6 tablespoons honey
  • 2 cups white granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  1. Place the ham in roasting pan lined with heavy foil, make sure there is enough foil to bring up and loosely wrap around ham. Combine melted butter and honey, then massage over ham, getting in between the slices a little. Place ham on the flat side down.
  2. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes per pound in a 300 degree oven. Remove from oven and place ham on a platter. Save the juices from the pan. Let cool while you make the glaze. Wash the pan out so any of the bits that are in the bottom are gone and don’t burn when you broil the glaze. (You can do this part in a slow cooker for 3 1/2 hours on low. You may need to trim it up to get it into the pot. You will still need to broil in the oven to glaze the ham)
  3. In a bowl add all the other ingredients together and mix well. If you have a rack place in roaster and take half the mixture and pat on the top, front and side of ham. Broil in oven WATCHING CLOSELY until bubbly and caramelized, then remove from oven.
  4. In a separate bowl add 3 to 6 tablespoons of the ham drippings* cook until it boils and cook for about a minute.
  5. Brush or pour of the ham and spread all over. Broil for another couple minutes. Be very careful to NOT LET IT BURN.
  6. Place on a platter and let cool for about 15 minutes. Serve either hot or cold.
* Save the remaining ham juice to toss your carrots in.
