Southern Shrimp Boil

Southern Shrimp Boil

Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 25 minutes
Servings: 6
  • 3 lemons, cut in half
  • 1 Cup Old Bay Seasoning
  • 5 bay leaves
  • 12 garlic cloves
  • 3 onions, cut in half
  • 8 sprigs of thyme tied together
  • 1 bottle light beer
  • 6 ears of corn, cut in thirds
  • 1 1/2 pounds red potatoes
  • 12 ounces smoked sausage
  • 2 pounds shrimp, deveined and shell on
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter, cubed

Old Bay Remoulade Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 ketchup
  • juice half a lemon
  • 1 tablespoons Old Bay
  • 8 splashes hot sauce
  1. In 6 quarts of water add in lemons, Old Bay, Bay leaves, garlic, onions, thyme and beer. Bring to a boil and reduce to simmer and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Add in the potatoes and let them cook for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes add in corn and sausage and boil for 5 to 7 minutes. Then add in shrimp and cook for 2 or 3 minutes until shrimp are opaque.
  3. Remove with slotted spoon to a bowl or you can put out on a newspaper. If in a bowl add some of the stock to the bowl. Top with cubed of butter and sprinkle with more Old Bay.
